On my work

There are places that seem to exist in between, between movement and stillness, between the inhabited and the forgotten, between memory and absence. These places, often overlooked, are where my photography takes shape. My work is drawn to the edges of the rural, where the land meets traces of human presence, roads stretching toward nowhere, telephone poles that seem to hum in the silence, houses standing as markers of lives once lived or barely lingering.

I work exclusively with medium format film, staying connected to the process through the physicality and limitations of the medium. This choice is not about nostalgia, but about a deliberate way of seeing. One that demands patience, attention to detail, and an awareness of light as a tangible element. The imperfections and textures of film mirror the landscapes I photograph: vast, weathered, and shaped by time.

The landscapes I seek out are not tied to a singular geography. While much of my work is rooted in rural Europe, the locations themselves are often secondary to the mood they evoke. Whether in the volcanic terrain of Lanzarote, the vast fields of Mazury, or an anonymous roadside somewhere in between, the images are not about documenting a specific place but about creating a space for interpretation, stillness, and longing.

Each image exists as part of a larger rhythm, where the tension between openness and structure plays out. Wide landscapes contrast with small, intimate details: an abandoned fence, a fragment of a human figure, a weathered sign. The presence of people is always subtle, implied rather than imposed, allowing for a sense of solitude without total isolation.

Photography, to me, is less about capturing what is seen and more about revealing what lingers: the weight of an empty space, the feeling of a road leading beyond the frame. It is a way of tracing silence, of observing the quiet shifts in landscapes shaped by time and distance. In these places, where little happens but everything is unfolding, I find a visual language that is both stark and deeply human.
